At-Large Councilmember Kwame R. Brown introduced legislation to provide funding for non-profit providers of emergency shelter to victims of domestic violence.
“There exists a long standing need for policy initiatives and strong oversight that will allow local, small and disadvantaged businesses to achieve meaningful inclusion in economic projects, procurement and the provision of services,” states Brown.
Councilmember At-Large Kwame R. Brown today discussed the provisions proposed by the “2005 Operating Cash Reserve Allocation Act of 2005” submitted by Mayor Anthony Williams, during a council roundtable. While recognizing the need to provide funding for initiatives such as the New Youth Services Center and Rehabilitation services, Brown proposed options to fund additional programs that directly impact the residents.
Councilmember At-Large Kwame R. Brown today introduced four new bills that include protecting displaced workers and making the Mayor’s Youth Leadership program permanent for more D.C. teens. The proposed legislation addresses the concerns voiced by residents and will enhance the overall productivity of the city.
